Classy.

I have been neglected one of my favourite stores: Banana Republic. Today, I'm posting a business casual look that incorporates both colour and class. Unlike the photo, I would wear minimal jewelry and give the look some flair with a shoe. If you're wearing this type of outfit to the office, make sure to wear a natural hose. If you were wearing it out for a night, you could make it black or go bold and use a bright green or blue. It's up to you! Let me know what you think of this look in the comments.

Tailgate.

I have been posting music to the blog in the past few weeks and I'd like to share why. Since I was little I have always enjoyed listening to music, dancing around, and going to concerts. Over the years my musical tastes have changed and certain fads have come and gone. It's true that these days I am listening to more country and pop than metal and hardcore.

Today, I am going to share a song that I really like by Luke Bryan. I only recently discovered Luke Bryan's music and have become totally enamored with it. I think part of why I like his music is because he's from Georgia, USA and talks a lot about Georgia. It also reminds me of my own roots, time spent in the country and the some of the values my parents instilled in me. Without further ado... I hope you enjoy!

Dangerous.

Autumn is here! I love nothing more than getting a latte or a caramel apple cider and enjoying everything fall has to offer. Delicious cookies, brisk walks and depending where I am, delightful outdoor adventures. My must have item for fall is a pair of boots. I have been into the motorcycle studded, and tall boot for some time. I hope this trend continues for the foreseeable future... and I would like to share these finds with you!

Universe.

I have been fascinated with sparkly clothes lately. I know its a major trend and a little in your face at the moment, but this dress is beautiful. I like that it is many colours and has a svelte cut.

What do you think? Too much sparkle? Just enough? On a side note, I really the the shoe-pairing. When you have an eye catching dress, it is best to go for a neutral pump. This looks like suede, I probably would have went with a patent or leather nude pump.

Style Watch: Emma Watson Take Two

I really like Emma Watson's style! This is probably evident from the fact that I profiled her before under style watch. Emma Watson takes a title role in the Perks of Being a Wallflower and it will be hitting theaters this fall. I'm guessing in an effort to promote her film, and just because she is generally awesome she has done a photo shoot with Glamour. I wanted to share some of the delightful photos with you and a tid bit from her upcoming interview!

Emma Watson on what acting in her new film, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, made her realize about her career…

“Making this movie was so pivotal for me because I realized I do really want to be an actress, which wasn’t something I fully knew, since Harry Potter was such a singular experience. Obviously I’m nervous to see what other people think, but it kind of doesn’t matter to me. It’s so cheesy to say this, but it’s the journey, not the end goal, that’s important.”

It's that time of year again, the Emmy Awards! I have decided to post the red carpet's best dressed....

Weekend.

It has been pouring rain the last few days and I have tried my best to stay inside and dry! I haven`t really succeeded on either. Since its the weekend, I thought I`d put together a look that would go best on a casual Saturday. I`m thinking walking around your local market-- flea or produce-- and just enjoying spending time with those you care about!

Take a look.

We are never ever getting back together!

I am a big fan of Taylor Swift and I really like her new song We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. I am anxiously waiting for Swift's new CD "Red" and in lead up to this I would like to share her video with you!!

Buckled.

It has been raining all day and it feels like I am back in England. To brighten up this dreary day, I thought that I would post some stylish raincoats and fall coats.

Glitz & Glam.

I have a pair of lovely sandals from Material Girl. They are a thong sandal with pale pink glittery straps and a blush fabric bow. I get a lot of compliments on these sandals. Last week, while I was sitting at a cafe having coffee the girls next to my table came over to ask where I got them. I thought given that they are popular, that there would be a photo of them online I could post. Unfortunately, I had little luck tracking one down. I am planning to take a picture of my sandals in the coming week and will post it then.

To tide you over, I have decided to post some delightful "smoking slippers" and loafers that I have been looking at. Tell me what you think in the comments!

Splash.

In the past few weeks, I have had the distinct pleasure of going to a few shopping malls. I always like going into Michael Kors boutiques because of the stylish bags and trendy clothes. I must say I am a fan of the quality of both handbags and clothing. Although I could post on and on about my current adoration of Michael Kors, I am just going to post a few handbags from their latest collection that I like.

NY Fashion Week 2012: J Crew

Last year was the first time that J Crew held a runway show for their collection at NY Fashion Week. In their second year of NY Fashion Week, J Crew did not fail to deliver with their Fall 2012 collection. Of the stylish outfits that the models strutted down the aisle in, below are my favourites.

I really like the different prints and mixing-matching that is going on. A striped sweater with a printed pant, all in the same hue of course, looks dashing. I also appreciate the increased number of accessories that the models are carrying. Whenever I shop at J Crew I notice there are very few handbags to complete a specific look. As you can see, with the increased number of bags in the runway show it looks like they will be changing this in the future!

In addition to their Fall 2012 Collection, J Crew also debuted its Spring 2013 line. I know it is a little early to think about spring when fall has not officially arrived, but I will post a few pictures to get you thinking about next year's fashion!

Amsterdam Chic.

Scotch & Soda: Amsterdam Couture.

When I was in Amsterdam a few years ago I had the opportunity to poke about a Scotch & Soda. I was pleased with the variety, quality and look of their clothing. I bought one piece and came back to Canada hoping that I would have the opportunity to shop there again in the future. Low and behold, within a year of that visit there are Scotch and Soda boutiques in Canada! Most notably at the Eaton Centre and York Dale mall in Toronto.

These are three of my favourite pieces from their fall collection.

Style Watch: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

As a teen, The Perks of Being a Wallflower was the ultra hip book to read and love.  I must admit, peer pressure to read the book made me NOT read it! Sadly, I do not know the finer plot details but I am looking forward to seeing the film in theaters later this year! To get you excited about the film, I thought I would share some of the beautiful LA Red Carpet outfits from this week.

Hayley Williams.

I thought I would do something new and share a song with you.
I find this song really inspirational and I love Hayley Williams' voice.

Back to Basics.

Lately I have been posting clothing that is pretty expensive. I recently read an article about lifestyle inflation. Lifestyle inflation occurs when you make more money you spend more money. For example: if you make $30 000 a year a used toyota is a type of car you might drive. But, if you suddenly received a promotion and started making $70 000 a year, you are likely to trade-up for a nicer car. In doing so, you are spending more money on your lifestyle because your pay has increased.

Rather than getting caught up in lifestyle inflation, I am going back to the basics! I know you may think this is silly, but I recently read that over 50% of Canadians are living pay cheque to pay cheque. This means most people aren't saving any money for their retirement, emergencies or their children's future education. That is scary!

So back to basics: The GAP!

Gap Perfect Shirt in black.

Gap Broken in Straight Khakis in icon wash.

With this look, you could wear the blue and white colour block sweater with the khakis alone, or layered with the black perfect shirt under it.  I would probably wear the outfit layered and not just because it is getting cold out! I have gotten into the preppy look recently and a sweater over a collared shirt with the cuffs turned up is something I really like.

Handle It.

I have been experimenting with internet editing tools for blogging and put together a few handbags that I like. I am not sure if I like the editing format and if I will continue to use it in the future. What are your thoughts? Do you like collage style?

Prim.

One of the things that I love about fashion is that there are so many designers! These days, it is hard to float across the internet without coming across a relatively new/unknown designer who has fabulous pieces.

I recently came across Shoshanna. This is a trendy designer who started in the late 1990s and is truly making a name for herself. I really like the design of the website, that they offer a 20% discount on the first order when you sign up for their newsletter and complimentary ground shipping (likely only in the US). However! I was plenty disappointed to find that the Shoshanna clothing isn't sold widely in Canada. I had hoped it would be sold in Holt Renfrew or even the upscale version of the Bay (Yorkdale mall, Flagship DT Toronto Store). As it turns out, the Shoshanna collection is only sold in little shops in Aurora, Ontario and Regina Saskatoon. If you ask me, that is pretty random. The first time I try a brand I like to try on the clothes to get a feel for sizing and quality so it's unlikely that I will be ordering from the website. I will have to make an effort to try go to a retailer who carries Shoshanna the next time I am in the United States or England later this year.

Enough of this, on to the dresses!

Lust.

Signing up for Fashion newsletters is a great idea. The emails are chock full of fashion tips, outfit ideas, sales, and highlighted fashion pieces. The J Crew newsletter sent this weekend highlighted the beautiful Lulu Frost for J Crew Triple Resin Triangle Necklace. It looks like their marketing strategy worked because it is the inspiration for today's posting.
