Style Watch: Posh Spice

My favourite spice girl was Posh Spice. As it turns out, she had the best head for celebrity; she is the only spice girl still popular these days. Victoria Beckham, as she is now known, also happens to be very fashionable.

 

 

Black & Bloom

Earlier this year I posted several maxi dresses that I liked for the summer. As we move closer to fall,  the bright colours and trendy patterns are being toned down. The spring and summer floral patterns have been re-configured for the changing season.

Banana Republic Monogram Collection Silvia Silk Gown in black combo. This silk gown is rather elegant and has the perfect colours for fall. I would wear this dress to an August or September wedding or a classy garden party.

Banana Republic Linen Shrug in black. If you're going to be out late in the evening it is always nice to have a sweater or jacket in case the temperature drops. I am a big fan of shrugs like this one. It's small enough that you can pack it in a medium sized bag and be set for the whole day.

Autumn

I have never owned a pair of UGG boots.  I have been told, in no uncertain terms, that if I wear a pair of UGGs people will not be seen with me. While I used to laugh this off because I never saw a pair of UGGs I wanted to buy, I have now found a pair I love.

I am attracted to this purse because of the tangerine colour and the fold-over opening. The fold-over is a great look and secures your belongings more than an open top. 

 

Dooney & Burke Tab Collar Satchel in olive and natural. 

I prefer the olive colour, but the natural is also nice and is the only colour which gives another view of the bag. I love the structure and shape of this bag and it is perfect for a professional setting. I own a Dooney & Burke leather satchel and it is excellent quality leather and with a little leather cream has stood up to over a year of frequent use. This is another cocktail dress that I am considering for interview parties.

 

J Crew Zig Zag Sequin Dress. If you like this dress you can buy it here.

Since the dress has long sleeves and a high collar, I would probably not wear any jewelry with it. Especially considering that it is sequin, so it is going to be pretty flashy. Instead of accessorizing with jewelry, I would wear a heel with a bit of colour. The African Violet colour is perfect to off set the black and white of the dress. Cocktail

Alice + Olivia Ophelia Lace Dress.

I think this dress is really pretty, and just conservative enough to wear to a business type event. With the cut out back, it is flirty without being inappropriate. I would pair it with a neutral shoe in either black or nude.
